"Optional mappings" are data that can be mapped, but where there are no validations for any recipient forcing the supplier to map. These mappings will be listed under "Optional mappings".
Completed mappings that are cleared and saved when editing will be moved to "Optional mapping". Regardless if it´s a property that requires mapping or not. When triggered from a validation error, such a property will be moved from "Optional mapping" to "Mandatory mapping".
